Tutorial – Blistered Gesso

Full description and step by step images to come.

Step one – Apply gesso with a palette knife so that some areas are thicker than others.

Step two – heat with embossing heat tool/paint stripper gun on low setting. Keep moving the heat around the piece until the gesso starts to form a skin on top and blister up.

Step three – using a clean piece of paper, press down on the bubbles to squish them down. You may need to protect your hands from the heat, the surface will be hot hot hot.

Step four – paint!

step five – you can add another colour of paint over the top, and wipe some away to highlight the texture. rub’n'buff will also highlight the texture beautifully.
